A wide range of events promote Plastic Free Lyme Regis and Turn Lyme Green throughout the year, from Plastic Waste themed art exhibitions, films and talks about how plastic affects us and our environment to children’s activities to encourage them to appreciate how their actions can help our coastline and environment.

Next TLG Litter Pick is 10am this Saturday 10th December, meet up outside the Charmouth Road car park toilets. If you've got your own picker-upper and bags bring them along otherwise we can provide equipment. Mince Pies will be available for hungry litter pickers. Ho-ho-ho!!

The Great Big Dorset Hedge is a Dorset Climate Action Network project to map, plant, expand, extend and join up sections of hedgerow around and across Dorset into multiple corridors that promote biodiversity and help wildlife of all sorts (birds, insects, amphibians, mammals, wildflowers, trees, fungi) to flourish across the county.

INCINERATOR VISIT 10am -12 noon Thursday 11th August 2022

FASHION REVOLUTION: The Lyric Theatre, Barrack Street Saturday 30th July to Thursday 4th August 2022
Come join the revolution and learn how to make, mend and shop with less cost to you AND the planet. The Lyric Theatre, Barrack Street will become a sustainable fashion hub, see details on Bridport Fashion Revolution Facebook page.
The first event is 1.30pm Saturday 30th July, at Buckydoo Square. SWITCH IT, DON’T DITCH IT. Bring a chair, some hand sewing for a flash mob for an hour. Contact Polly for more information if you would like to go as part of a group.

Beach Litter Pick 10.00-11.30am, Sunday, 20th February 2022 Meet at RLNI Lifeboat Station
All invited to help with a litter pick. It's fun.. great to be outside and helps keep our beaches clean, safe and welcoming. Families welcome; children under 16 do need to be supervised. Wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves. Afterwards, there will be a chat over coffee about ideas for future plans. Great Dorset Beach Clean 10:00 Sunday 23rd May 2021
Join us at 10:00 - 11:30 on Sunday 23rd May 2021 to clean Monmouth Beach. We're only allowed a maximum of 30 beach cleaners so make sure you meet us at the slipway outside the RLNI shop about 10 minutes before to reserve your place. Picker and collection bags are provided, you must bring your own sturdy gloves to wear due to Covid 19 restrictions.

The plans to join the Great Dorset Beach Clean on Sunday 19th April have now been cancelled due to concerns over the Coronavirus. We hope to re-schedule this later in the year. In the meantime, look after your health and take care everyone!

Beach Clean Sunday!

12.20 p.m. Beach Clean now on Sunday! Meet up by the RLNI shop where the slipway is, all ages welcome. Come and help give Monmouth Beach a tidy up and find out what kind of things get washed up on our shores. Wear sensible shoes, all equipment (buckets, bags and 'picker-uppers') provided. Bring your sunhat as it's bound to be sunny (or maybe a rain hat as well - just in case!).

Firework Night Clean Up

8 a.m. - 9 a.m. Blow those cobwebs away and clean The Cobb and beach up after the fireworks! Join us on Sunday on The Cobb to collect the leftover fireworks from the Lyme Regis display. All the fireworks as as 'green' (and red, yellow and sparkly) as we can buy with minimum or no plastic content. Mainly just good old cardboard, gunpowder and explosives! Woo-Hoo!

'POP UP' Sustainable Lyme Regis

POP UP Sustainable Lyme Regis is between Friday 25th - Monday 28th October 11 a.m.-4 p.m.at The Malthouse in The Town Mill off Coombe Street.
There are exhibitions of the posters by local schools to support the Boomerang Bag scheme together with bags made by The Woodroffe School. Discover what a Boomerang Bag is and where you can borrow one!
Workshop days:

Saturday 26th October: SEW SUSTAINABLE – FREE. Drop in for a chat and see how easy it is to sew a Boomerang Bag. Free pattern and instructions available. 11 a.m. onwards
Monday 28th October: CUT OUT PLASTIC IN LUNCHBOXES - from Warsup. A fun, informative session involving tasty treats and activities. Goodie bag included, full of plastic free ideas and gifts. 11.30 a.m. - 1 p.m. £6 per person. Under 12s free, must be accompanied by an adult.

The Big Beach Clean

Join the Surfers Against Sewage at the Anchor (the Ship's Anchor) on the sea wall by Cobb Square at 4 p.m. to clean up the front beach. Wear sensible shoes and clothing. Pickers, bags and buckets will be provided - just bring your eagle eyes to spot any rubbish or plastic.

Tom ’The BlowFish’ Hird is a MCS Ocean Ambassador, Marine Biologist, broadcaster, author & science communicator. Tom appeared as “The Blowfish” on CBBC, ITV, BBC, CITV and Channel 4 as Sunday Brunch’s resident wildlife expert. He’s also presented two series of BBC worldwide's production Fishing Impossible.
William Thomson is an explorer, paddle boarder, graphic artist, mapmaker, is author of The Book of Tides and The World of Tides, Social media Tidal Compass broadcaster and has featured in The Daily Telegraph, Coast Magazine and on the BBC.
Anne Baker Educator and Ocean Advocate has taken part in several eXXpeditions gaining first-hand observation of the significant challenge of ocean plastic pollution. She’ll be sharing her findings of her recent eXXpedition sail around Greenland.
Dr Adam Rees Research Officer Blue Marine Foundation. Adam’s PhD focussed on the ecological impacts associated with crustacean potting, in our own Marine Protected Area Lyme Bay Reserve, and will be giving an update on how work here has progressed.

Carnival Procession - The return of the Jellyfish!

The Grand Procession leaves Holmbush Car Park at 8pm, comes down Pound Street, Broad Street, turns right through Cobb Gate by the clock, along the sea front, past the Yellow Carnival Kiosk, to end in Cobb Square. Come and seee the Jellyfish glow and wobble!

Carnival Environment Day and Art workshop

This year Turn Lyme Green and Plastic Free Lyme Regis will be hosting an environment day, creating another art project for children and families to enjoy. Dorset Litter Free Coast and Sea are coming with their stand with games and challenges: “ Be a Plastic Game Changer’…roll the dice and see if you have the Eco moves to play our funky Snakes & Ladders game.
Take our FATBERG challenge. Can you avoid causing a stink in your sink? Find out what you can do to avoid nasty niffs, and clogs at home by following our simple tips.
We are also running an art session for those that want to join in making a mandala for our art wall, come and join us at the Shelters on Marine Parade
