Toddlers, primary and secondary school pupils, and college students, hold up homemade placards calling for change. This protest is their hope for the future. They stand against our wilful ignorance, inertia and entrenched self-interests destroying their future. They have learned too much to be at school today. These children have organised themselves, using the limited power they have – to plead with us for their future. Adults practised in cynicism and indifference - please give them a hearing.
A great place to start learning more about the movement is Greta Thunberg’s speech to the UN (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFkQSGyeCWg). Greta was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The marches are organised by Youth Strike for climate https://www.facebook.com/Strike4Youth/. The next march is on 12th April.
